Death at Cambridge.—An old resident of Cambridge, Mrs. Hannah Hooker, dies on Thursday morning, at the oge of 7G years. Pawnbroker Fined.—For exposing a shotgun for sale not being a licensed dealer in firearms. J. P. Rhine, a licensed pawnbroker, was fined 10s and 13s costs at the Police Court yesterday. Mails Arrive Home.—The Chief Postmaster advises that the mails which left Wellington on November 8 per R-M.S. Tahiti, via San Francisco, arrived at London on December 7. Maoris To Meet.—Members of the Te Akarana Maori Association have decided to hold their first social function. Though the date has not yet been fixed it will probably take place some time before the Christmas holidays. Fine For Theft.—Frederick Charles O’Connor, aged 19. who appeared for sentence at the Police Court yesterday on a charge of stealing a camera, was fined £5. in default 21 days’ imprisonment. Chinese Found Hanged.—The body of Ah Ging. known as Wing On. a Chinese aged 60, was found hanging at the back of his fruit shop in Broadway, Marton, yesterday. He is believed to have in financial difficulties. —Press Association. Bankrupt Gaoled.—Three months’ imprisonment was the sentence passed by Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., at Gisborne yesterday on Israel Gelhour, who had pleaded guilty to breaches of the Bankruptcy Act. —Press Association. Driver’s Back Injured.—One of Messrs. Winstone’s drivers. Mr. Matthews, a married man aged about 35, fell from his wagon yesterday and injured his back. The St. John Ambulance took him to his home at 4 Fra croft Street. Royal Warrants Received.—The Royal warrants in connection with the bestowal by the Duke of York of orders and decorations of the Royal Victoria Order, have been received by those concerned. from the King, through the Governor-General. —Press Association. New Arrival’s Leg Broken.—A new arrival from Australia. Donald Stilsbury, a single man aged 37. was struck by a motor-car in Hobson Street about 9.30 a.m. yesterday and had his leg broken. He was taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St John Ambulance. The injured man was living at Welles-
