ATHLETIC CONTROL

N.Z. A.A.A. CONFERENCE SELECTORS FROM EACH ISLAND BIENNIAL TESTS BETWEEN DOMINION AND AUSTRALIA Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The annual conference of delegates to the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association decided that the entrance fees for all amateur events be Is, but fees for New Zealand championship events will be 2s 6d. The Selection Committee for future New Zealand teams shall consist of two selectors, one from each island. In future, where entries total more than ten, heats will be run in both the 440 yards and BSO yards championship. A remit from the Canterbury Centre that the present system of Australasian championships be rescinded and that in their place biennial contests between New Zealand and Australia be held, was carried. After considerable discussion, a motion that walking events be deleted from programmes for New Zealand championships was lost.

A discussion on amateurism and professionalism occupied some time, but no motion was carried, it being left to the New Zealand Council and the various centres to take what steps are necessary.
