NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS PROGRAMME DRAWN UP By EIGHT BEAT. Settling down now to earnest work, the Auckland swimmers who hope to establish times fast enough to warrant their inclusion in the team to represent this city at Dunedin in January, are being given plenty of competition. The National Championships will open on Saturday, January 21, and will be concluded on January 27. The Otago Swimming Centre will control the meeting, and from present indications there is every promise of the 1928 meet being highly successful. The Southerners are well-known for their hospitality, and the visiting swimmers may rest assured that they will be thoroughly entertained, and cordially welcomed.

The race for the Annette Kellerman Cup, over a distance of approximately three miles will be swum in the harbour on January 26. Nominations for all events close at midnight, on January 10, 1928.

The Devonport Amateur Swimming Club will open its season at Cheltenham Beach on Saturday, December 17 with a carnival that should attract a great deal of support if the weather holds fine. . . ~ , , This is a keen and enthusiastic club, which is making a big effort to become an established fact in the marine suburb.
