Sir Maui Pomare, Minister in charge of Cook Islands, will arrive in Auckland to-morrow and will meet the Fruits Importers’ Association. During his visit to Auckland the Minister will also open the new fire brigade station at Mount Koskill.

Captain J. S. M. Ritchie, R.N., who until recently was in command of H.M.S. Dunedin, has been appointed naval attache at the British Embassy at Washington. Captain Ritchie will leave Auckland on December 20 by the Aorangi, en route for England, where he is under orders to report at the Admiralty about the end of January.

Mr. E. A. Craig was a passenger from Wellington by the Limited this morning.

Mr C. J. Tunks returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited from Wellington.

Mr. Justice Frazer arrived at Hamilton this morning by the Limited from Wellington.

Dr. M. M. Hockin, of Kaponga, Taranaki, has been appointed as medical superintendent of the Waikato Hospital.

Miss M. Colhoun, who has been staying with Mrs. J. A. Colhoun. of Burnside Avenue, Mount Albert, returned to Ngaruawahia last evening.

Archbishop Averill, who has been visiting Wellington, returned to Auckland this morning. He was accompanied by Archdeacon Hawkins.

Mr. W. T. Foster, M.A., at present inspector of secondary schools, was appointed yesterday principal of the Napier Boys’ High School in succession to Mr. W. A. Armour, who has been appointed to Wellington College.— Press Association.

The Hon. A. D. McLeod Minister of Industries and Commerce, is visiting the Wairarapa Industrial Exhibition at Masterton to-day, will stay at his residence in his constituency over the week-end. returning to Wellington next Tuesday.

Mr. T. S. Withers was elected a life member of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society last evening. He is the youngest member on which this honour has been bestowed. The chairman, Mr. C. A.
