STATE MINE DISPUTE

REMOVAL OF PILLARS DANGER OBJECTED TO Press Association GREYMOUTH, To-day. Mr. A. H. Kim bell, Under-Secretary for Mines, and the State mine officials vesterday met the members of the Miners’ Union Executive regarding the dispute as to removing pillars from the Anderson section of the Liverpool mine, which the miners refuse to remove owing to alleged danger, 11 men having ceased work. The miners’ executive is emphatic against the removal of the pillars and the question was referred to the Buller section of the Miners’ Council for their opinion. , . After lengthy discussion Mr. Kimbell arranged for the men who had ceased work to be employed on other work at the mine on tho understanding that such would continue until the next cavil, which takes place about January 27, when pillar places must be included in the cavil. This proposal was accepted by tne executive members of the union present.
