MONSTER SHARK

ANXIOUS MOMENTS IN FISHING BOAT SWALLOWED A HAT (From Our Own Correspondent) OPOTIKI, To-day. To be attacked by a 20ft. shark was the unenviable experience which befel Fred Sunberg and a Maori named Hoere, off Te Kaha, while fishing on Tuesday. Immediately a shark put in an appearance, and the monster began circling round the boat bumping it time after time. The Maori was so scared that he nearly capsized the boat, knocking his mate’s hat overboard, and this the shark immediately swallowed.

Sunberg attacked the monster with an oar. This was seized by the shark, which then departed, the fishermen returning to land.
