Y.M.C.A. BANQUET

REUNION OF MEMBERS The annual reunion of the past and present members of the young men’s division of the Young Men’s Christian Association was in the form of a banquet in the association’s dining hall last evening, when there was a good attendance. The chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, thanked all members for their cooperation with Mr. J. H. Miller, the organiser, in the activities of the division. The splendid spirit of youth and adventure was referred to by Mr. R. A. Kenner. It was through the excellent example of their leader, Mr. Miller, that they had achieved the ends sought throughout the year. Mr. Miller, replying, spoke of the social and financial success of the activities of the association. The sports trophies were then presented. Mr.- K. E. Kitchener proposed the toast, “The Y.M.C.A. in Sport,” and Messrs. P. Humphries, W. Gorrie and F. Rogers, representing the various branches of sport, replied. Mr. Garry Jenkins contributed songs, Mr. Turner Pelluett musical monologues and Mr. Barry Ingall’s Hawaiian Orchestra gave selections. The secretary, Mr. V. T. Drew, in a concluding speech, referred to the volunteer work of the leaders and also the general unselfish spirit of members throughout the year.
