NEW REGENT

DOUBLE BILL TO-MORROW A woman lawyer becomes so interested in her profession that friend husband is left out in the cold. In an effort to win her back, he purposely* hits another car, hoping to regain wifey’s love as a client. But—the pretty blonde chauffeur of the other auto sits in the same boat as him. Her husband devotes all his time to sick patients. So there is the groundwork against which an ingenious little farce has been built, “The World at Her Feet.” Florence Vidor is starred, and Arnold Kent feautred. Luther Reed’s latest Paramount effort reaches the New Regent Theatre to-morrow. Doris Anderson adapted it from the French stage play of George Berr and Louis Verneuil. “Few men who come to the Islands leave them; they grow grey where they alighted; the palm shades and the trade wind fans them till they die, perhaps cherishing to the last the fancy of a visit home, which is rarely made, more rarely enjoyed, and yet more rarely repeated.” Slicli is the description of Samoa which Robert Louis Stevenson penned many years ago. Perhaps that was what caused Robert Flaherty, the producer of “Nanook of the North,” to go to those mystic islands and transfer their beauty to the screen. In “Moana,” which will also be shown to-morrow, lie has pictured the story of these people. Russo and Bradford, who have proved so popular with New Regent audiences during the past week, have been retained by the management for a further period. They will appear in an entirely new programme which will include the “Miserere” from II Trovatore, with orchestral and organ accompaniment.
