“BEN HUR”
COMING TO AUCKLAND The new policy of the Fuller-Hay-ward management, which will make the always popular Strand Theatre “the home of big pictures,” so far as New Zealand is concerned, and ensure to the public a recognised theatre where nothing but titanic productions will be screened, comes into operation on Friday, December 16. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s illustrious screen epic, “Ben Hur,” the fame of which is world-wide, has been secured for the inauguration of the new policy. The drawing power of “Ben Hur” is so remarkable that in Auckland, as elsewhere, the managerial policy will be to provide box plans for the whole season and extend to the public the right to reserve any seat in any part of the theatre for any desired day on payment of a small booking fee.
United Artists have received a set of photographs that indicate the quality of “My Best Girl,” Mary Bickford’s forthcoming release. These depict the world’s sweetheart in situations that suggest ever-changing episodes, many of which are tingling with drama and romance.
