GERMAN APPREHENSION OF BRITAIN’S TRADE
£2,000,000 SCHEME TO FINANCE EXPORT OF TEXTILE MACHINERY

The British Trade Commissioner, Mr L. B. Beale, has received details o£ a £2 000,000 scheme tor financing the export of British textile mach inery to Germany, under which buyers will deposit 20 to 25 per cent, of the total cost, the remainder to be paid quarterly. A three or four years estimate of £20,000,000 covers 10 vears, and it is anticipated that the textile machinery trade with Germany will be trebled. . Apprehension is expressed m Germany at the growing competition of British industry in world markets, especially with China, Japan and the United States, due not only to superior quality, but to superior financing on the British side to that now applied to the German market,
