This inletting of one material on another, or even on the same material, is the decoration of the moment. The new transparent velvets lend themselves beautifully to this kind of treatment, especially when used with a dull material. There is a tremendous flair just now for unrelieved black of two entirely different types of material. The one. acting as an attractive foil to the other, makes the finished effect anything but sombre.
