BEING A FROTH-BLOWER DOESN’T ENTITLE YOU TO BE A TIME-WASTER, TOO
TIME-WASTERS find no favour with the management committee. It has made a rule by way of motion that the time between the completion of one side’s innings and the other side’s taking strike, 10 minutes, shall be rigidly adhered to, and a team prejudiced by such tactics may appeal, and may be awarded the match on those grounds. However, there are other ways of killing a cat besides choking it with cheese, and there are other ways of wasting time besides lingering over afternoon tea. How about beginning the afternoon’s play up to time promptly and punctually, like meetings of the management committee—for a start? One can appreciate a batting side playing the clock out if the batsmen lay the wood on everything that asks to be hit, but wasting time by the forces in the field is not so good to see.
