TROTTING AND RADIO
AUCKLAND CLUB’S REFUSAL ANOTHER APPEAL MADE At a recent meeting of the Radio Dealers’ Association, members expressed regret that permission has not been given by the Auckland Trotting Club for a report of the summer meeting to be broadcast from the course. It was decided to ask the club to reconsider its decision; a reply to this request is awaited with interest. The regret expressed by the association is widespread and far-reaching, and in practically every part of the Dominion where wireless is installed and enthusiasm shown in the lightharness sport will there be general disappointment at the decision arrived at by the Auckland Trotting Club. In centres and country districts there are numerous lovers of both racing and trotting who cannot possibly visit the meetings, but receive a great measure of enjoyment through listening in on race days. That the broadcast system
in vogue in Auckland in connection j with trotting reviews is successful has been demonstrated on several occasions * latelv, when messages have reached “Abaydos” from the far. away West Coast expressing appreciation of the wireless reviews. The same applies j there and other places situated at a j distance from a racing centre on race days, and if the Auckland Trotting Club could realise the enjoyment it gives to thousands of people throughout New Zealand to listen in to the trotting results and descriptions, the executive would not hesitate to grant tho request.—Abaydos.
