GAMBLER’S THEFT

STOLE FROM EMPLOYERS (Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Alfred Tolchard, aged 39, appeared in the Police Court before Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., to-day, and admitted the theft of £52 from C. Hollis and Company. Chief-Detective Lewis said that the

accused had started to take the money about April last. When taxed with theft he had admitted the misappropriation of certain moneys, but he was given another chance and promised to pay the money back. He had, however, taken further money. Accused had been gambling heavily. He was remanded until Thursday for a report from the probation officer.
