ARRIVALS FROM HOME
IMMIGRANTS BY HORORATA “A FINE HEALTHY LOT” The 123 immigrants who arrived from England by the N.Z. Shipping Co.'s steamer, Hororata last evening have all been nominated or are going to friends and relatives. Two of them are Public School boys, L. H. Gordon, from Glasgow, who is going to Nelson, and J. B. Gifford, who is going farming at Gisborne. The new arrivals are a fine healthy lot, and will scatter themselves through New Zealand as far South as Bluff. “One of the best crowds we have ever brought out,’* said one of the officers in describing them. Everyone enjoyed the trip. There is plenty of deck space on the Hororata, and with gramophones and a piano to dance to the evenings were joyfully spent. A fancy-dress ball was one of the most happy events on the voyage. Thirty-six of the newcomers will stay in Auckland; 51 will go to Wellington, and 20 will go to the South Island. The remainder will be spread over the North Island.
