CAPITOL
BIG DOUBLE PROGRAMME From “What Price Glory,” an epic war film, to “Is Zat So?” a hilarious drama, is the transition made by Edmund Lowe, the tough marine of the
battle film, and the equally tough I prize fighter’s j manager of the | comedy. But herei the resemblance! ends, for instead; of the natty uni-' form of Sergeant; Quirt, Lowe in the latter picture wears the flashy j clothes, trick hair-cut and wise manners of a habitue of the prize-ring. George O’Brien
is the pugilist whom he manages, and he has his troubles doing it, but those who have seen "Is Zat So?” which is to be screened at the Capitol Theatre commencing to-night, say that while Lowe has his troubles the audience has its laughs. Kathryn Perry. Cyril Chadwick. Doris Lloyd. Douglas Fairbanks, jun.. and Philippe DeLacy have important roles in this picture.
Every parent who has a real thought for the enlightenment of a young mind should send the children to learn the authentic historic story of “Mons,” which is another picture which will be screened at the Capitol to-night. “Mons” is a particularly fine and deeply-moving picture. Patriots will glow with pride at the calmness, the good sense, the discipline which “Mons” displays. Haters of war—and are we not all its haters?— will whisper to themselves at every incident that this must never happen again. “Mons” has an innocent air, no gas masks, no tin hats, no tanks, and yet it is amazing not for what it shows but for what it immortalises. Ramon Novarro, who had to become an expert swordsman before he could the stellar roles in "Scaramouche” and “Lovers,” and who learned to drive a four-'horse team attached to a chariot, so that he could adequately fill the title role of “Ben Hur,” is now called upon to master the trick of manipulation of playing cards. This is in order to enact the starring role in “Romance,” a screen version of Joseph Conrad’s novel, which Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is translating to the screen.
