RUSH TO PT. CHEVALIER
COPING WITH SUNDAY’S CROWD
| Though there have been larger ■ crowds at Point Chevalier than there I were on Sunday, the Tramway Depart- ! ment were hard put to it to convey | those who desired to visit the popular jbeach.
| The large buses were put on the run j land were well packed. Between 3,000 | and 4,000 people were conveyed both i ways, and between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. 46 ; extra trips were run by the buses. A great number left the crowded ! beaoh early, in order to escape the rush ! which set in about 4 p.m. and continued ; for three hours. The Tramway Department considers that between 40 and 50 trams could ; have been run on the route with advantage. As it was a three-minute I’bus service was accomplished.
