EDEN’S BEST ALL-ROUNDER

In three successive innings, G. L. Weir, of the Eden XI., has scored 20 not out, 44 not out and 40 not out, and on each occasion has materially assisted his side with the bat, as well as with the ball. This young player takes his cricket seriously, and is evidently under no illusions about the necessity for making every post a winning post if he is to gain his rep. cap this season. Even after Eden had won on Saturday, and the rest of his comrades were “having a go," he refused to be stampeded into reckless hitting, but went unconcernedly on in his own effective way, adding steadily to his score by sound cricket, realising that it was his chance to make the most of a good opportunity to further improve his chances of getting an alI -rounder’s berth in the Auckland rep. side.
