AMERICA PAYS AFTER CENTURY-OLD LAW SUIT
CLAIM FOR SCHOONER SEIZED DURING WAR OF U.S. INDEPENDENCE By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a.m. OTTAWA, Sunday. Thirteen days before the opening of the war in ISI2 the United States seized the schooner Lord Nelson in Lake Ontario. She was auctioned for 3,000 dollars and after the close of the war her former Canadian owners sued the American Government. During the past 115 years litigation has leisurely proceeded, and to-day the Washington Government sent a cheque for 23,640 dollars, mostly interest, to the Canadian Government, which has now to face the problem of dividing this amount among 125 descendants of the former ovfners. —Sun.
