JEWEL POINTER’S FINE MILE

THAT the large assemblage at Claudelands on Saturday appreciated the fine effort of the Auckland crack Jewel Pointer in his pacing exhibition was amply demonstrated by the cheering that greeted the splendid little horse and his driver, Jack Shaw, long before the winning post was reached. The son of Logan Pointer fairly revelled in his task and did not allow the grass to grow under his feet. He reached the half-mile disc in 1. 5 3-5, and ran from there to the wire in 1.3 4-5, registering the wonderful time on a new grass track of 2.9 2-5. The excellent reception given horse and driver on passing the post was renewed when the time was made known.
