Athletic Champs. at Dunedin
OTAGO TITLES DECIDED Press Association DUNEDIN, Sunday. The Otago Amateur athletic championships were held yesterday in beautiful weather on the Caledonia Ground, which was in good condition. H. D. Morgan won the 100yds flat, 120yds hurdles, 440yds hurdles and shot-putting championships. C. M. Olsen, the present New Zealand halfmile champion, won the 220, 440 and 880yds championship, and was second to Morgan in the 100yds flat. J. J. Morris won the mile flat and C. W. Frye the three miles event. Miss M. Stewart won tl i 100yds ladies’ championship. J. A. Wilson won the one and three miles walks. Civil Service won the relay championship. J. E. Leckie won the hammer-throw with a throw of 14Sft 6in, stated to be the best throw by a New Zealander in New Zealand. C. C. Nicolson (Invercargill) won the javelin-throwing, B. Provo the discus-throwing. C. Rout (Invercargill) the broad jump, A. H. Malcolm the high jump, and R. O. Johston the hop, step and jump and pole vault. S. Bremford won the mile and three miles cycle championships. The following team was selected to represent Otago at the New Zealand championships:—looyds, flat, 120yds and 440yds hurdles, and putting the shot, H. D. Morgan; 440 and 800yds flat, N. J. Suckling; 880yds and one mile flat, J. J. Morris; throwing the hammer, putting the shot and high jump, J. E. Leckie; long jump, hop step and jump and pole vault, R. O. Johnston; 120yds hurdles and long jump, F. M. Hanan; 120yds and 440yds hurdles, J. Tapley; one and three miles cycle events, S. Bremford; long jump, hop, step and jump, E. H. Thompson; mile and three miles walks. R. H. Cabot and W. Wilson. C. M. Olsen and C. W. Rout (Invercargill) were not available for selection.
