CARTER’S DOWNFALL STEALS EMPLOYER’S MONEY A s *?,. story of a man’s struggle against misfortune followino sickness was told in the Police Court to-day when William John Perkins, a middle-aged man pleaded guilty to charges of stealing £2B 13s. i„ Ch i ef -i? etectiTe Cummings said that the thefts were committed in June, when accused was driving a baker’s cart and collecting accounts. There had been a long run of sickness m the family and now accused was ill. He was practically crippled and would be a hospital patient for a long period. His wife was working to support him and the family. Accused was remanded to appear for sentence to-morrow.
