SIXPENCE TIME
HAPPINESS FROM HAPPY TOWN Recently the Dawn Lady began a fund called “Sixpence Time,” with the object of helping to give the poor children of Auckland a holiday at Christmas. She appealed to the Sunbeams, many of whom have emptied their money-boxes to assist in filling the shining box in the Place-of-You-Never-Can-Tell. This box will remain in Happy Town until December 10, when it will be handed to Sister Pat, who knows where poverty lurks, and where children are in need of aid. “Sixpence Time” means that these little people may have th© opportunity of spending a fortnight in camp, where sunshine, fresh air and plenty of wholesome food will restore colour to pale cheeks and nourishment to puny bodies. The camp will be held at Oneroa, Waiheke, and will be in charge of Sister Pat, of the Auckland City Mission. Last year 60 children, in poor circumstances, were given a fortnight’s holiday. This year it is hoped that the number may reach three figures. For the time being, we have adopted as our slogan, “The more sixpences, the more children,” and hope that before the closing date the shining box may bo full to the brim. The following sixpences have been received:—
