GLADIOLUS IN BUD

Gladioli are now beginning to throw up their bloom spikes and a little attention is now necessary if perfect blooms aro expected. Keep the soil around the plants loose and frequent soakings will do good. Always remember that gladiolus are surface rooting and should never be allowed to become dry during the flowering period. Those in a windy situation should be carefully staked, as they will easily snap off at the root. At this stage a good mulching of rotted manure should be strewn along the rows. This will help to keep the bulbs cool and hold the moisture in the soil.
