THE GENTLE ART OF AMERICAN “BOOST”
THE amazing confidence of the American film industry in its own output and in the propaganda value of its pictures in aid of American commerce, was the chief line of evidence given before the Australian Film Commission by T. E. Moorhouse, formerly general secretary of the Australian Association of British Manufacturers. He read extracts from an article published in the “New York American” as follows: “Britannia may be Mistress of the Seas, but she is an innocent bystander on her own screen. We have captured it. Ninetyfive per cent, of films shown in 9 r «at Britain and 99 per cent, of films shown throughout the British Empire are of American origin. Think of that. This is the most astounding tribute to the quality, originality and irresistible appeal of this great American art.”
