New British Film Combine
IN VIEW OF QUOTA BILL A N important amalgamation of British film interests, in view of the Quota Bill, is likely to take place, says an English correspondent writing by the last mail. In anticipation of the passing before the end of the year of the British Film Quota Bill, which stipulates for the showing of a fixed proportion of British films, many British producers are concentrating on getting together in Britain first-class teams for film pro-
duction and obtaining working agreements with the American industry to release British films in the United States. American producers are also realising that it may be to their advantage to start subsidiary companies in this country.. in which the majority of shares are held by British subjects, for the production of real British films. An announcement of a great amalgamation of interests founded on these principles is likely to be made in the near future. Those who are engaged upon this scheme are confident that its [ outcome will be a rapid advance in film production in Britain.
