ANTHONY’S RECENT PERFORMANCES AS AN AUCKLAND REPRESENTATIVE
T N recent years, A. Anthony has been an outstanding performer in representative cricket. In the 1924-25 season, he scored 103 in two innings, putting him at the top of the batting averages for that season with 51.5, just ahead of Dacre, 51.1. In the following season, playing in all three Plunket Shield matches, “Tony'* dropped to seventh place with the bat, scoring 165 in six innings. but he was in fine form with the ball, being second on the averages to A. S. Player with ten wickets for 262 runs. The only Shield match he played in last season was against Wellington, when he scored 5 and 13, but his double-figure effort in that match was worth a great deal more than that. He also played for Auck and against the Melbourne Club side, scoring 39 and 33.
