AUCKLAND CUSTOMS OFFICER ARRESTED
THEFT OF £I,OOO ALLEGED BAIL OF £3OO ALLOWED A Customs officer at Auckland was arrested yesterday on a charge of stealing £lO 12s Sd. the property of the New Zealand Government. When accused appeared at the Police Court in the afternoon. ChiefDetective Cummings said that the total defalcations were about £I.OOO. Accused, whose name was . suppressed. is a married man aged 29. He was remanded to appear on December 15, bail being fixed at £3OO.
