MISSED MR. AMERY

MAYOR ARRIVES TOO LATE (Special to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. In order to say farewell to Mr. L. S. Amery, the Mayor, the Rev. J. K. Archer, attended on the Christchurch railway platform this morning, but Mr. Archer did not see Mr. Amery. He was under the impression that the latter was to leave by the 8.50 a.m. express, and arrived five minutes before that time, but the Secretary of State for the Dominions had left by a special train at 5.20 a.m. On discovering that fact the Mayor rushed to the telegraph office and telegraphed a message of farewell.
