Seven Millions for Public Works

AUTHORITY FOR LOANS ROADS AND RAILWAYS (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Wed. Loans totalling £7,000,000 are authorised in the Finance Bill, introduced in the House of Representatives this evening. The Minister of Finance is empowered to borrow £4,000,000 for certain public works, including the construction of railways and additions to open lines, the purchase of rolling stock for open lines, telegraph extensions, construction and improvement of roads, including main highways, improving access to any lands, developing goldfields, the construction of irrigation works and other public works.

For the purposes of the Railways Improvement Act, 1914, the Minister of Finance may borrow £2,000,000, and £1,000,000 for the purposes of the Education Purposes Loans Act, 1919.
