SCOTS CELEBRATE HAGGIS AND SKIRLING PIPES Th« haggis was piped in with full ceremony at the St. Andrew’s Day anniversary celebration in Scots Hall, Symonds Street, last evening, during one of the most successful meetings of the St. Andrew’s Society held in Auckland. 'pHE fact that a large number of Auckland's prominent citizens are of Scottish origin has been discovered by the society, which took full advantage of this fact to invite all the great mei * personally to the celebration. Over •iOO guests were present and evinced Rreat delight at hearing the pipes skirling as of old among the hills of Scotland. A true Scottish programme had been Prepared. Familiar songs were sung asain and the St. Andrew's Society's orchestra gave a fine performance. There was a distinct Scotch flavour about the programme broadcast from Zealand stations last evening, jhen songs and music of true Caledonian character were put on the air. pipers helped to entertain with selections of national airs.
