Ground Was White With Dead Sheep

HEAVY FLOOD LOSS BLOW TO NEW SOUTH WALES By Cable. —Press Association Copyright. Reed. 9.20 a.m. SYDNEY, To-day. The heaviest stock mortality ever known was experienced in the recent heavy rain. There was exceptionally cold weather in the Bathurst district. Shearing had just closed, and the newly-shorn sheep were subjected to extreme privations, heavy losses being suffered in many flocks. The individual losses in several cases ranged from £2.000 to £4.000. One grazier states that his ground was white with dead sheep. Torrential rains continue on the north coast, and many residents of low lying districts have been compelled to abandon their homes.

The flood menace is daily becoming more acute. —A. and N.Z.
