PRINCESS

BIG PROGRAMME TO-NIGHT

A tired business man who doesn’t fall for one of- the most alluring and provocative vamps who ever vamped, introduces a new twist in screen plots. It is one of the many amusing and highly entertaining features of “Lonesome Ladies,” the First National Picture which heads the bill at the Princess Theatre to-night. Lewie Stone and Anna Q Nilsson head the cast, and Jane Winton is the “super-vamp.” Stone, of course, is the T.B.M. in question, and it might not seem logical to watch hii efforts of Miss Winton to entice him, if it were not for the fact that Miss Nilsson plays the role of his wife! If the vamping fails to produce the usual results, it’s as thrilling to the spectator as it is embarrassing to the hero. The picture abounds with clever human touches, comedy and some genuine drama for purposes of contrast.

The great Dempsey-Tunney clash for the heavy-weight boxing championship of the world will be retold in a line film. The photography is excellent and the slow-motion sections tell some interesting tales of the crucial moments of the fight. Lieutenant Laffey at the private view remarked on the cleverness of the boxing and stated that it was the finest heavy-weight contest he had witnessed. It was, he said, the best fight film he had seen and that opinion was shared by others at the private view.
