PAPAKURA CARNIVAL
MISS DAISY WATSON QUEEN The result of the Papakura Queen Carnival was announced yesterday evening. The Business Queen, Miss Daisy Watson, was officially declared the winner by over 1,500 votes. She polled 9,570 votes. The Sports Queen, Miss Mildred Francis, was second with 5,044, and the School Queen, Miss Laura Brown, third with 6,167. The headmaster of the Papakura School, Mr. J. E. Elliott, thanked the residents of the district for their support, and congratulated Miss Daisy Watson, also the less fortunate queens. He referred to the excellent object the school had in view ’in promoting the carnival to celebrate their jubilee. A reunion of the old pupils is announced for Saturday. December 10, for which 200 invitations Have been issued. The visitors from a distance will be entertained at lunch in the school, and a sports entertainment will ; follow m the school grounds,
