LIMITED DELAYED

GOODS TRAIN BAULKS IN CUTTING NOVELTY FOR REMUERA The failure of a goods train to climb the Remuera cutting last evening delayed the Limited for 40 minutes. Rain on the rails had made them slippery, and the wheels of the engine could not grip, despite the use of sand. When all else failed the Limited and a suburban train which was following joined forces and pushed the goods train up the incline. This made an enormous length of trains which reached from the Dilwortli Avenue footbridge to St. Mark’s Road overbridge. The noise of puffing engines and the length of train brought the residents out in full force to watch it. The combined Limited and goods train travelled together as far as Otahuhu where the good 3 was shunted on to a siding.
