IF ROSE RETURNS TO FORM
T>OSE BINGEN, who figures on the back mark in the Hamilton Trot Handicap on Saturday, being on 4.38, did not succeed m collecting a stake last season, but managed to get a third berth on one occasion. This was at the Metropolitan summer fixture, where the Nelson Bingen mare was beaten by Audobell and Peter McKinney, and registered 4.35 1-5 for the small end of the purse. The previous season, however, Mr. C. Johnstone’s mare won the Rowe Cup at the Auckland summer meeting, conceding Betty. Moko and Peterwah, who filled the places behind her, 36 yards. From a 4.41 mark Rose tramped .4.36. If she retains any of her former dash the Nelson Bingen—Rose Elect mare will make things awkward on Saturday, It is worthy of note that the mare has been accorded a nomination in this year’s Rowe Cup.
