STUDENTS’ RECITAL ART FROM THE MORRIS STUDIOS A successful recital was given by the advanced pupils of Madame Annie Morris and Mr. Wilfred Morris on Monday evening in the Unity Hall, Queen Street. They were assisted by pupils of Mrs. Arthur Griffiths, Miss Beresford and by Miss Myra McLeod, the wellknown contralto vocalist. The work was of an excellent quality, and the large audience was enthusiastic and demonstrative, both with applause and floral tributes. The following was the programme: “Hymn from Symphony,” Beethoven, three violins and piano; “Polonaise,” Op. 71, No. 1, Chopin; “Gipsy Airs,” Saras ate, violin solo; “Silhouettes,” No. 1, Arensky, piano duo; “Georgie,” character recital; Etude No. 5, Paga-nini-Liszt; Spring “Song,” violin solo, Mendelssohn; “Feu Roulant,” Huvernoy. piano solo; Fairy Hance; Rhapsodic No. 12, Liszt; “Ye Powers That Hwell Below,” Gluck, contralto solo; Moto Perpetuum, Bohm, violin solo; Hungarian Hance No. 12, Brahms; Humorous Sketches and Recitals; Liebeslied, Schumann-Liszt; Rondo from Concerto Op. 37, piano duo, Beethoven; “ Serenade Melancolique,” Tschaikowsky, and “Spanish Hance,” Sarasate. violin solos; Waltz in G Flat and Etude, Op. 25, Chopin; “The Enchantress,” contralto solo; humorous sketch; Hungarian Hance No. 1, Brahms; Abegg Variations, Schumann; Etudes, Op. 10, No. 9 and 12, Chopjjn; Hungarian Hance, violin solo, Brahms; Naila Waltz, Hohanyi; Turkish March, violin trio with piano. Beethoven. Among the artists were: Miss Leighton, who wore a frock of green georgette and gold lace. Miss McArthur, whose frock was of mignonette gree.n crepe de chine. Miss Keller, wearing a frock of black satin faconne. Miss Reid, in a white frock of satin beaute'. Miss Kendall, white georgette frock. Miss Nellie Cameron, black frock of georgette Miss Mutton, floral patterned chiffon frock. Miss Hewitt, rose pink frock of hatienne. Miss Goodall, hyacinth blue crepe de chine frock. Miss Myra McLeod, geranium pink satin and silver lace with rhinestones. Miss Dorothy Griffiths;, frock of opal blue georgette. Miss Tui Valentine, primrose coloured frock of lace. Miss Bennie, frock of powder blue crepe de chine. Miss Ivy Stubbs, frock of apple green georgette. Miss H. Valentine, satin frock of hydrangea blue toning. Miss Joan Muskett, flame tinted frock of crepe de chine. Miss Nora Reeves, black georgette frock. Miss Marjorie Smith, frock of pale nasturtium georgette. Miss Iris Blewden, satin carreau frock of hyacinth blue. Miss Koanui Simeon was a dainty little fairy in a powder blue gauze frock, with shining spangles. Miss Gladys Cain and Miss Olga Elsmere wore character costumes. At the close of the recital Madame Morris received some beautiful bouquets from appreciative friends and pupils, and a most mysterious and important-looking token of gratitude was given Mr. Morris.
