Coates, said in the House of Representatives to-night that the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Bill also would be gone on with. These two Bills and a finance Bill were the only measures left. Mr. E. J. Howard, Christchurch South, asked if the Arbitration Bill could be held over for a conference in the recess. Mr. Coates: You can suggest that in committee. Mr. H. E. Holland asked if Mr. Coates would accept amendments made by the House to the Licensing Bill. , „ . ,
Mr. Coates asked him to wait till the Bill reappeared, because both sides had discussed the whole question.
Mr. H. T. Armstrong. Christchurch East: Only among your party. Is this a party question? Mr. Coates: No. Mr. Armstrong: Well, why confine it to your own side? Mr. Coates: There are three distinct views in the House, and I take it that this is what matters.
