“THIRD DEGREE” TO-MORROW Starting to-morrow, the National Theatre will present what is claimed to be the world’s greatest thriller in melodrama, the screen version of Charles Klein’s famous play, “The Third Degree.’ For tense dramatic situations, “The Third Degree” has never been equalled. The story briefly is: The son of a proud millionaire j marries a trapeze performer from a | circus. The father refuses to recognise ! the pair, and does everything possible jin order to estrange them, hiirng a | notorious blackmailer to aid him. The j blackmailer is found murdered, and standing beside the body is the milj lionaire's son. Suspected of the muri der, he suffers the horrors of the now I notorious “third degree,” and although innocent, confesses. The real criminal Jis found in an unexpected quarter. ! Dolores Costello heads an excellent 1 cast, and gives further proof of her ! amazing versatility as Annie, the circus J rider. She is ably supported by Louise i Dresser, Rockliffe Fellowes, Jason RobI ards. and David Torrence. The proj ductlon bids fair to rank among the i big pictures of the year. On the same ! programme will be “The Self-Starter," a five-reel comedy featuring Reed I Howes, also the usual supports.
