MOUNT EDEN PATRIOTS

DISCARD GERMAN BLOWER KIRK ORGAN SILENCED Presbyterians at Mount Eden have Installed a new pipe organ that has been on trial for several weeks past. Someone has now discovered that it is fitted with a German blower and certain members are perturbed. The instrument is of New Zealand manufacture and of solid construction. Critics ■peak well of its saticfactory tone and volume. In its setting in the dome of the building, with a background of the Union Jack and the lion rampant, it makes & neat piece of ecclesiastic furniture. But the German blower, not even of pre-war make, is a fly in the ointment. Much discussion ensued at the congregational meeting in the schoolroom last night and there was some display of verbal fireworks among the speakers. The Treaty of Locarno was quoted, but feeling, even in the sacred precincts, was high. A German blower decorated with British flags was unthinkable, and the opposition won. The offending blower must go. and be replaced by one of British m;ik© to cost an additional <£2o. Until the new attachment arrives the Mount Eden Church will be without its * , kust o’ whustles” for three months, and the old-time precentor "•'ith his tuning-fork will be in evidence once again.
