THROUGH QUEENSLAND
AUCKLAND ARCHITECT’S TOUR A thorough tour of Queensland has just been completed by Mr. G. W. Allsop, of Auckland, who, with his wife, is at present engaged on a world cour. Leaving New Zealand last July with their Packard Sedan, Mr. and Mrs. Allsop landed in Sydney and have travelled steadily northward since then, often staying a week in the district. After travelling through New South Wales and Queensland they went as far north as Mackay, but had to leave the car there, as the roads were getting too bad, going on to Cairns by train. From Queensland they intend to go down to Melbourne, then on to Tasmania for. Christmas. They then return to Melbourne and across the continent to Perth.
Mr. Allsop thinks the Queensland roads are very bad, and that for a comparatively small expenditure the roads could easily be improved.
The old gentleman had bought a second-hand car in. good, condition and was demonstrating it to' a' friend who was a little deaf. “Don’t you think she ticks over finp?” lib 1 said. “Eli” said the friend. ITe repeated his question a ifttle louder.' “Eh?” said the l'riend again. “Don’t you think she ticks over very nicely?” bawled the old gentleman again. “Eh?” said his friend. “You will have to shout a bit louder. I cannot hear anything • for your rattling engine.”
