Lady Richardson, wife of the Administrator of Western Samoa, arrived by the Tofua this morning - to spend Christmas with her relatives in Wellington. Miss A. M. Stops, an English visitor to Samoa, arrived by the Tofua this morning with Lady Richardson. Mrs. McCarthy, wife of Mr. A. McCarthy, of the Justice Department, Apia, Samoa, arrived by the Tofua this morning - . * * « Mr. 11. Rates, Collector of Customs, Apia, Samoa, and Mrs. Bates,' arrived by the Tofua this morning on a holiday trip to New Zealand. Or. T. Russell Ritchie, Chief Medical Officer, Apia, Western Samoa, and Mrs. Ritchie, arrived by the Tofua this morning. Or. Ritchie, wlio is not enjoying the best of health at present, is on four months’ furlough. Mr. and Mrs. H. Hart Lewis, of Suva, Fiji, arrived by the Tofua this morning on a trip to Auckland. Mrs. Hart Lewis will undergo a slight operation. Mrs. Michaels, who has been visiting Christchurch, has .returned to Auckland. • * * Miss Stone has left for the South, where she will spend a two months’ holiday. * * • Mr. and Mrs. F. Brooke-Taylor are visiting .Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F. T. Munro, of Omarama, North Otago, and their niece, Miss Esther Rankin, of St. Andrew’s manse, New Lynn, have returned from an extended trip to Europe. Miss Vera Ziman is leaving on Friday by the Ulimaroa on a visit to Australia and Palestine, where she will devote some time to the Zionist Society. * * * Mrs. M. Caselberg, of Masterton, is staying in Auckland, and will leave on Friday by the Ulimaroa on a visit to England and the -Continent. Miss E. Z. Shibingtonj Mrs. G. J. Hogge, Mrs. M. Wrigley, Miss J. A. Moore, Sussex, England, Mrs. T. Neilsen and Misses O. and JVI. Neilsen, Hull, England, are among - the guests staying at the Hotel Stonehurst. * * * Mr. and Mrs. T. Coverdale, of Te Kawa, and Mrs. and Miss A. Hunnibell, of Christchurch, are staying at the I-lotel Cargen. * * * Mr. and Mrs. C. Jarrow, of London, Miss E. Jordan, of Te Kuiti, and Miss M. Allen, of Morrinsville, are among the guests at the Grand Hotel. Miss M. Clark left by the Limited last evening for Wellington, where she is shortly to be married. Miss Clark, who for five years has been a member of the Cavell Company of Girl Guides, was given a rousing farewell by the Guides and her friends. Mrs. Metcalf, of Auckland, who has been on a trip to Norfolk Island, returned by the Hinemoa yesterday. BRIDE-ELECT HONOURED MISS JOYCE TAYLER A charming afternoon was given by Mrs. J. A. Collins a.t her residence, Roselea Road, Mangere East, on Saturday, to Miss Joyce Tayler, who is shortly to be married to Mr. H. C. Luscombe, of King’s College. The opportunity was taken of presenting Miss Tayler with a handsome brass tea tray from the masters’ wives and matrons. The presentation was made by Mrs. Archdall, wife of the headmaster. Among tlf ose present were: Mrs. Archdale Tayler, Mesdames Robertson, Reveli, Tills, Delph, Sister Goodall, Misses Morris, Hill, Hope-Johnstone, Laws, Youngson, Wallace. PUPUKE GOLF CLUB & SOCIAL FUNCTIONS Two delightful afternoons were given last week at the residence of Mrs. Atwood, Froxfield, Takapuna, for the junior and senior lady members of the Pupulte Golf Club. On Tuesday the junior members were entertained at a golf croquet match, which was won by Mrs. R. Mcßride, and a golf clock competition,, which was won by Miss B. O’Neill. On Wednesday the senior members indulged in similar games and competitions, when Miss O’Neill was the winner. EPSOM W.C.T.U. ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Epsom W.C.T.U. was held recently in the Baptist schoolroom, Inverness Avenue. Mrs. Neal presided over a fair attendance of members. Good progress has been made in all departments during the year, and interest in the meetings sustained. After the election of officers for the ensuing year afternoon tea was handed round and music and social intercourse brought a very pleasant meeting to a close.
