EMPIRE
BIG DOUBLE PROGRAMME “Shipwrecked,” a First National pic ture, will be shown at the Empir Theatre to-night. *
The story deals with an artist’s model whose beauty brings her the unwelcome attentions of men, and when she seeks relief in another city, she fails to find it. One night, to save her honour, she shoots a scoundrel and, boarding a ship bound for the Orient, she hides in the hold. Of course, she is discovered and during a raging hurricane, when the captain seeks to force his attentions upon her, a ship’s cook’s assistant comes to her rescue. Seena Owen is the girl and Joseph Schildkraut the battling hero. The ship, almost dismantled by the storm, is abandoned by the crew, leaving the girl and boy to their fate. They drift to an island, where many interesting scenes transpire and a smashing climax is reached. •‘The Ranger of the Big Pines,” featuring Kenneth Harlan and Helene Costello will also be shown.
