FARMER FOUND SHOT

TRAGEDY NEAR CARTERTON Press Association. CARTERTON, To-day. Edwin James, aged 76, a well-known farmer of Parkvale, was found shot last evening with a pea-rifle beside him. Death was instantaneous. Deceased was having tea when, through the electric-power failing, the whole family had to assist in completing the milking. The younger daughter, returning to the house about eight o’clock, found her father sitting in an arm-chair in a front room with a pearifle between his knees. He was quite dead. He leaves a widow and a family of nine, mostly grown up. An inquest will be held.
