Canterbury Settler Dead. —The death at the age of S 8 of Mr. Charles Overton, formerly a well-known run-holder and early Canterbury settler, is reported from Christchurch.—Press Association. Car Strikes Pole. —Extensive damage was done to a motor-car, driven by Mr. Albert Bartley, of Devonport, which skidded at the corner of The Terrace and Anzac Street, Takapuna, on Sunday evening and struck an electric power transmission pole. The driver was not injured, but two passengers. Mr. Blankard and his son, were slightly cut. After medical attention they were able to return home. The car was towed away.

Knocked Down by Motor-Cycle.— A fractured pelvis resulted when Mr. George Batson MeCarthie was yesterday knocked down by a motor-cycle in Manukau Road near the corner of Owen’s Road. He was taken to the Auckland Hosjoital by the St. John Ambulance, and was reported this morning to be progressing favourably. The injured man, who is 57 years of age, lives at 602, Manukau Road. The cycle was ridden by Mr. T. J. Bane, of 677 Manukau Road.
