TANGLED TENDERS FOR ONEHUNGA OFFICE

— POWER BOARD’S PROBLEM When the tenders for the Onehunga office of the Auckland Power Board were opened at the meeting yesterday, it was found that the lowest tender was not accompanied by sufficient deposit. The members put their considering caps on. “Very annoying for us," said the chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, who felt sure that the builder had misread 30 days in the conditions for £3O when he should have enclosed £ 50. So the conditions were examined. They offered no way out, and despite the price and the honest error of the tenderer the offer was declared informal. The estimated price for the job was £4,371. Xineteen tenders were received, and that of Wm. "Curtis, £3.616', was accepted.
