Mr. M. Kavanagh arrived from Engevening by the Athenic. Mr. A. E. Hefford, chief inspector of fisheries, is staying at the Star Hotel. Mr. B L. Dallard, controller of prisons, is staying at the Grand Hotel. Dr. C. Rendle, who has been touring South America, returned to New Zealand last evening by the Athenic. Sir Frederic Lang. M.LC., and Mr. W. J. Jordan. M.P.. returned by train to Wellington last evening. The Rev. H. Whitby-James, who is going to Tinui, Wellington, arrived last evening by the Athenic from Liverpool Sir George Fenwick arrived in Auckland from Wellington yesterday and is staying with Canon Pcrcival James at Parnell. Sir Donald McGavin arrived in Auckland yesterday by the express from Wellington. Mr. Justice Sim arrived yesterday morning by the express from Wellington. Mr. W. Reece, of Christchurch, arrived in Auckland by the express yesterday morning. The Hon. G. Fowlds returned to Auckland yesterday morning from the South. Mr. A. S. Wansborough. designing engineer. New Zealand Railways returned to Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. Adolphus Davis has been appointed a member of the Parnell Licensing Committee as successor to the late Mr. A. Clements. Mr. W. J. Bellingham. F.S.M., of Christchurch, musical director of the Broadcasting Company of New Zealand, arrived in Auckland this morning and is at the Royal Hotel. Mr. G. O’Halloran, who has taken the place of the late Mr. J. McLeod on the Waitemata Power Board, was welcomed this morning to his seat by Mr. J. W. Hayden, chairman of the board
Tho Mayor. Mr. G. Baildon, Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Tramways Committee, Mr. A. E. Ford, tramways manager, and Mr. J. S. Brigham, town clerk, will leave for Wellington this evening. Dr. Coldicutt, who has recently been doing post-graduate work in London hospitals, sailed for New Zealand by the Orama on November 12. He is accompanied by Mrs. Coldicutt. They are expected to arrive at the end of next month. Mr. J. A. Stewart has been appointed bandmaster with tho honorary rank of lieutenant, of the band of the Auckland Mounted Rifles. Mr. G. Lawn has been appointed to a similar position in charge of the No. 1 Regimental District Senior Cadets. Lieut.-Colonel I. T. Standish, C.M.G., D. R.N.Z.A.. who has been assist-ant-adjutant and quartermastergeneral, Northern Command, for the past five and a half years, left last evening for Palmerston North, where he will succeed Colonel J. H.
