“CONFIRMED CRIMINAL”

THREE YEARS’ HARD LABOUR “Your previous sentence of two years for theft does not seem to have done you much good,” said Mr. Justice Reed to Frederick John McDonald, who appeared in the Supreme Court to-day for sentence on five charges of breaking, entering and theft and forgery at Auckland.

The prisoner was not represented by counsel. “The report shows that you are becoming a confirmed criminal,'* added his Honour, “and you will go to gaol for three years with hard labour.”
