WHARF WORKERS HURT

ONE STRUCK BY BALE Two waterside workers were injured. A little before 9 o’clock a man named Smitdorf, of Grey Avenue, slipped on the deck of the Athenic and dislocated his right hip. He is a single man about 45 years of age. At 11.30 a.m. Arthur Yates was struck by a bale while working on the Kurow. His right thigh was fractured. Mr. Y’ates lives in Wright’s Road, Point Chevalier. Both men were taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance.
