VALUE OF MAN POWER
AUSTRALIANS WORTH £2,000 EACH CAUSE OF UNEMPLOYMENT According to tlie Commonwealth valuation, the value of Australia’s man power is ten thousand millions, or £2,000 a head. The United States places twice as great a siun on each individual.
As Australia has only two-thirds and the United States one-quarter of the trade value of the Dominion per head what is each New Zealander worth?
The question was asked by Mr. Norman Gribble in an address to the Rotary Club to-day. Mr. Gribble spoke of the “disgrace” of the unemployment in the Dominion and said that if th~ trouble was diagnosed it would be found to exist because manpower was not properly utilised. New Zealand needed more people in the country and she also needed her own people to be better trained.
